Dance film
Co-created with Joséphine Auffray
Performed by Sara Maurizi and Joséphine Auffray
The drive behind Disposable emerges from the desire to subvert heteronormative social constructs and stereotypes attached to female-presenting bodies.
The work uses the culinary metaphor of deboning, stuffing, and cooking a turkey as a dramaturgical framework to explore and dissect different dimensions of this subject.
The collaboration between Joséphine Auffray and Sara Maurizi began in February 2020 in Berlin and was further developed during a residency in August 2020, originally intended as a site-specific performance.
The film was created in April 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the artists—based in different countries—continued their research remotely, finding ways to sustain the investigation across distance.
Presented at Berlin Performing Arts Festival 2021.
