Sara Maurizi is a freelance dance artist based between London and Europe Mainland.
From dancing in her bedroom as a child, to developing her skills and artistry in training and through her professional career, Sara has been dancing and moving throughout her whole life.
Sara is interested in varying the means through which dance takes form, and the other disciplines through which the evoking power of the body is used and manifested. In particular, visual arts, photography and video art are her main sources of inspiration.
Due to this eclectic and broad interest, as a performer she likes to engage in a variety of works, from stage works, to video dance and site specific performances (see ‘BIO’).
As a female artist and maker, Sara is deeply interested in understanding and subverting the relationship between the female identifying body and the social heteronormative expectations attached to it, both as a human and dancer (see ‘NEWS’ blogs for works and collaborations).
